Weston is one of the most deliberately planned cities in South Florida. Arvida master planned it, the first homes went up in the Country Isles and Windmill Ranch sections in the mid 1980s, and the city incorporated in 1996, so most of the housing stock was built inside a fairly narrow window to a controlled set of community standards. For cabinetry that means something specific: floor plans repeat across a community, ceiling heights and closet openings are consistent within a phase, and the original storage was specified to a builder standard rather than to a family.
That last point is what brings us out here. Do you already have designs for the standard Weston floor plans?
We know the plans well, but we do not build from them. Weston communities repeat floor plans, so we usually recognize a layout before we walk in, and that speeds up the conversation about what tends to work in that room. What we do not do is skip the measure, because builder option packages varied within the same model, previous owners move walls and add doors, and a closet opening that should be identical across a street routinely is not. The recognition helps the design. The tape measure decides it.
Does my Weston HOA need to approve a closet or pantry project?
Architectural review in Weston communities is generally focused on the exterior, so interior cabinetry usually falls outside it, but you should confirm with your specific association because rules vary between communities. What almost always does apply is access: most Weston neighborhoods are gated and require the resident to register the crew and vehicle with the gatehouse in advance, and some restrict work vehicle hours. Weston sits at the western edge of Broward, so we schedule installs there as a single continuous visit with the materials staged for the whole project rather than as a series of short trips. Our own crew makes the drive; we do not hand west Broward to a subcontractor. Practically, it means we ask for the gate access and the cleared rooms to be ready on the agreed day, because a full crew making that run is not a visit we improvise.
